DESCRIPTION:Over the past two years I have been involved in setting up and
running a small scale algal growth facility at the Cambridge University B
otanic Garden. This is part of a network of pilot plants across the EU to
test whether algae can be used as an economically viable bio-economy. I
will present data on how we are using algae to bioremediate nitrate waste
from industry\, to using algae as a feedstock for Anaerobic Digestion plan
ts and how we are using cold-adapted algae from Antarctica to increase bio
mass productivity in the UK winter months.
