DESCRIPTION:In this talk we will discuss some of the background and motiva
 tion for studying the Dirichlet-Neumann map (henceforth DtN) for a given d
 omain in R^2. Further\, we will discuss a new spectral-based method for an
 alyzing the DtN map. The talk will begin by discussing some results that h
 ave already been established for convex polygons in R^2\, then we will mov
 e on to discussing more current work where analogous results are being pro
 ved for smooth domains.
