 creasingly taking place\, not in separate organisations\, but in ecosystem
 s and digital infrastructures. Examples are easily found in the music indu
 stry\, e-business solutions\, social media and in e-health.  How do we exp
 lain why some digital infrastructures succeeds\, while others fail? Buildi
 ng on a spectacular case from the airline industry\, and 41 documented cas
 es\, we identify three generative mechanisms for infrastructure success.
