DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I try to explain the pervasive attention on red
 ucing waiting times in cancer diagnosis and treatment in Denmark during th
 e 2000s. I take a broader societal\, biological and cognitive perspective 
 and propose four vectors (of unequal scale and magnitude) at play during t
 he period of 2000-2010 supporting the reframing of cancer: the exponential
  growth in numerical representations of cancer\; the powerful circulation 
 of cancer memories\; the increasing life expectancy in the general populat
 ion\; and the conflicting atmosphere of booming economy and policies of fe
