DESCRIPTION:In non-linear systems\, e.g. inversion of long offset seismic
data for velocity\, it is difficult to map the uncertainty from the data i
nto the model  space. I will propose a Monte-Carlo based random walk meth
 od\, called the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm\, as a possible method. I wi
ll also show more sinister effects of model inadequacy caused by simplific
ation of physics and model parameterisation that ultimately limit the accu
 racy of the results.
