DESCRIPTION:Text processing of social media data in NLP has largely centre
 d around\nTwitter\, with other social media types getting relatively littl
 e attention. In\nthis talk\, I will first present an empirical comparison 
 of text sourced from a\nrange of social media sites (microblogs\, comments
 \, user forums\, blogs and\nWikipedia)\, focusing on the relative "noisine
 ss" and diversity of the\nlinguistic content. I will then discuss the appl
 ication of discourse parsing\nto user forum threads\, and incorporation of
  the results to improve search\nquality.
