DESCRIPTION:Simon read English at St Catharine’s (1994-97) and\, whilst 
 at Cambridge\, directed many plays.  He went on to a successful career as 
 a director\, working at Northampton\, the Bristol Old Vic and the Royal Co
 urt.  Last year\, he directed Eugene O’Neill’s Strange Interlude at th
 e National Theatre and his production this summer of The Two Gentlemen of 
 Verona at the RSC’s Stratford-upon-Avon Memorial Theatre (the first in t
 he main house for 30 years) has been widely acclaimed.  He returns to the 
 NT next year to direct Shaw’s Man and Superman\, with Ralph Fiennes in t
 he lead.
