DESCRIPTION:Wide field imaging and spectroscopic surveys of the M31 system
  have\nrevealed a complex web of substructure surrounding the classical vi
 sible\ngalaxy\, including: giant stellar streams\; extended disk-like rota
 ting\ncomponents\; unusual classes of stellar clusters\; many new satellit
 e\ngalaxies\; and even significant tidal streams emanating from M33 and NG
 C147. In this talk I will review some of the recent work on surveys in the
 se systems and in particular discuss the latest results obtained from\ngro
 und-based and space-based imaging and spectroscopic data.
