DESCRIPTION:Specializing in obstetrics and gynaecology\, Lord Winston was 
 the pioneer of IVF and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis\, as well as dev
 eloping surgical techniques such as tubal microsurgery\, which has revolut
 ionised the treatment of ectopic pregnancy and other reproductive system d
 iseases.\n\n\n\nLord Winston presented many acclaimed TV series\, includin
 g the 'Threads of Life'\, which won the international science film prize\,
  and the BAFTA award-winning 'The Human Body'. Today he is a member of the
  House of Lords and was the chairman of its select committee on Science an
 d Technology.\n\nHe will discuss his current research\, in collaboration w
 ith scientists at Caltech\, on the genetic engineering of male germ stem c
 ells and methods to reduce genetic abnormalities in embryos.\n\nEveryone i
