DESCRIPTION:Professor Smith is the Director of the Welcome Trust Centre fo
 r Stem Cell Research and a pioneer in embryonic stem cell biology. As a le
 ader in the field\, he coordinated the European Commission EuroStemCell an
 d EuroSyStem projects\, is a Fellow of the Royal Society and won the prest
 igious Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine in 2010.\n\nIn the talk\, he will 
 discuss his current research on molecular determinants of pluripotency and
  multilineage commitment\, with an aim to control the growth and different
 iation of human pluripotent stem cells. This will allow insights into earl
 y human embryo development and exciting applications in drug discovery and
  regenerative medicine.\n\nEveryone is welcome. Free for members\, £2 on 
 the door for non-members. Followed by refreshments (that means smoothies\,
  cheese and grapes!).
