DESCRIPTION:A central problem in complex geometry is to find necessary and
  sufficient conditions for the existence of a constant scalar curvature Ka
 ehler metric on an ample line bundle. The Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture st
 ates that this should equivalent to the algebro-geometric notion of K-stab
 ility\, related to geometric invariant theory. I will give a gentle introd
 uction to K-stability and time permitting there will be some applications.
