DESCRIPTION:Many families of transcription factor recognise very similar b
inding motifs and\, in some cases\, are co-expressed in the same cells at
the same time during development. We have been studying the Sox family in
Drosophila\, which show highly conserved nervous system expression and a
very high degree of functional redundancy. We will examine activity and bi
nding in wild type and mutant conditions as well as using evolutionary ana
lysis to look at conserved and diverged activities of the Sox family.
