DESCRIPTION:The heavy-fermion compound CeRhIn5: d-wave superconductivity a
nd density waves\nThe recent observation of charge-density-waves in variou
s cuprate superconductors has attracted significant interest and once more
highlighted the importance of multiple\, co-existing and potentially comp
eting phases in strongly correlated systems. The heavy-fermion CeRhIn5 ord
ers anti-ferromagnetically at 3.8K and the application of moderate pressur
 e around 2GPa induces unconventional d-wave superconductivity\, most likel
y mediated by spin-fluctuations of the suppressed AFM order. \nWe found ev
idence for an additional phase in this compound: a field induced density-w
ave. The phase transition is signaled by a hysteretic jump more than doubl
ing the in-plane resistivity accompanied by the appearance of non-linear e
lectrical transport at high magnetic fields (>28T)\, which are the distinc
tive characteristics of density-wave like states. A Fermi-surface reconstr
uction at the transition is indicated by the appearance of new Shubnikov-d
 e Haas frequencies.\n
