DESCRIPTION:How can a computer scientist aid saving lives? Computerised To
mographic Imaging (CTI) is an imaging technique used widely in healthcare
for diagnosis and planning treatments. I will give a brief overview of wha
t CTI is and how it works. A discussion on alternative methods follows. I
will then present the Fourier Slice Theorem and the Filtered Backprojectio
n Algorithm\, which are fundamental to CTI technology. Some reconstruction
  algorithms will also be described.
