DESCRIPTION:We are developing a component-based architecture for event-bas
 ed middleware\, with the aim of enabling easy evolution of sensor-based ap
 plications. Specific applications include traffic and transport monitoring
  within and around the City of Cambridge.\n\nIn this architecture some eve
 nt sources may not be public\, and it is essential to be able to maintain 
 privacy.  We intend to model the components and their connectivity so that
  we can predict the non-functional characteristics of the software as new 
 sensor sources become available and new applications are deployed.  The ta
 lk will describe our first steps towards meeting this goal.
