DESCRIPTION:Lavr Burin who joined OPERA group in the very beginning of thi
 s year\, gives a survey talk about his personal research interests and act
 ivities. The talk includes a brief introduction to the history and develop
 ment of computer science in Russia and therefore about some specific aspec
 ts of approaching the discipline in this country. Ways of combining this a
 pproach with a more common one adopted in the Western World are discussed.
  The talk presents Lavr's personal experience and motivation for pursuing 
 a research at the University of Cambridge.
