DESCRIPTION:Almost axisymmetric flows are derived as an approximation to\n
the inviscid Boussinesq equations. These flows were introduced to study\nt
he structure of tropical cyclones. In 1988\, Shutt et al proposed a\ndiscr
ete procedure to construct a solution to the forced axisymmetric\nflow mod
el within a rigid boundary. In this talk\, I will discuss how we\nhave con
structed a solution to the continuous case within a more appropriate free
boundary domain and how overcoming a regularity issue could be an importan
t step toward extending our procedure to handle almost axisymmetric flows.
\nThis is a joint work with Michael Cullen.
