DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Sunlight is the starting point of life. Without the
sun\, our planet would be cold and lifeless. After the 1973 oil embargo\,
there was a resurgence of interest in solar energy. Making energy useable
is a central problem of our civilization. In theory\, photocatalytic cells
are easy to make. Simply put the catalyst in water\, irradiate with sunli
ght\, collect the hydrogen\, and there you are. In addition to the energy\
, a variety of environmental problems now affect our entire world. A promi
sing approach for remediating air quality contaminants is to employ photoc
atalyst that oxidize these compounds. By definition\, photocatalyst is a c
atalyst that accelerates photoreaction. Everything depends on the photocat
alyst which must use sunlight efficiently. My research has now developed a
new photocatalyst that works when irradiated with visible light. This pre
sentation will provide an overview of my present and future of research.
