DESCRIPTION:The *African Partnership for Chronic Disease Research (APCDR)*
was established in 2010 and currently spans six countries across sub-Saha
ran Africa (SSA).\n\nThrough a coordinated research network\, APCDR facili
tates collaborative and multidisciplinary population research into non-com
municable diseases (NCDs)\, including diabetes\, heart disease and hyperte
nsion.\n\nBy developing strategies for data harmonisation\, shared resourc
es\, and by bringing together epidemiological studies and research experti
se and infrastructure across sub-Saharan Africa\, APCDR provides new oppor
tunities to more reliably assess the burden of NCDs and their risk factors
across the region. This approach will help develop preventative and contr
 ol strategies for these diseases.
