DESCRIPTION:We consider skill based parallel server systems under policy o
f first come first served and assign to longest idle server. Key quantitie
s for this model are matching rates - what fraction of customers of type i
are served by server type j. \nStability and performance are highly depe
ndent on these matching rates and much is still unknown. \nWe discuss som
e relevant topics: product form solution and  fluid scaling\, reversibili
ty of FCFS infinite bipartite matching model\, heuristics for service syst
ems design\, and many server scaling.\n \nJoint work with Ivo Adan\, Mark
 o Boon\, Jean Mairesse\, Ana Busic and Hanqin Zhang.\n
