DESCRIPTION:One of the central problems in classical sheaf theory is to co
mpute the\nsheaf cohomology groups of a given sheaf or presheaf of abelian
groups.\nUnder favourable conditions\, this can be done using Čech cohom
ology\, and\nthe original version of Verdier's hypercovering theorem can b
e seen as a\nvast generalisation of this.\n\nIn the first half of this tal
k\, I will recall the notion of a category of\nfibrant objects in the sens
e of Brown and give a homotopy colimit formula\nfor computing the derived
hom-spaces in the simplicially enriched case.\nThen\, in the second half\,
I will apply this to the case of simplicial\npresheaves on a site to obta
 in a non-abelian version of Verdier's\nhypercovering theorem.
