DESCRIPTION:Philip Guildford\, Director of Research at the Department of E
 ngineering\, will describe the key differences between Research Councils a
 nd industry – what they look for\, how they like to work\, what irritate
 s them.  He will tell you how to decide which to approach and how to posit
 ion your research propositions for the two different audiences.\n\nPhilip 
 illustrates his presentations with war stories from his decade in helping 
 researchers to sell – so be prepared to hear the key lessons and enterta
 ining examples of both what to do and what to avoid.\n\nBring along your q
 uestions and be prepared for an open and interesting debate.\n\nThis prese
 ntation is open to all and postdocs\, in particular\, will find it useful
