DESCRIPTION:Torsion in the homology of arithmetic manifolds has received s
 ignificant amount of interest\nrecently in the Langlands Programme. In thi
 s talk\, we will concentrate on the case of arithmetic hyperbolic\n3-manif
 olds. The main result we will discuss\, joint work with N.Bergeron and A.V
 enkatesh\, will\nconcentrate on the asymptotic growth of the size of torsi
 on homology and how it relates to arithmetic.
