nal and Biological Learning Lab\, Department of Engineering\, University o
 f Cambridge)
DTSTART:20150116T110000Z

CONTACT:Prof Máté Lengyel
DESCRIPTION:This is the computational neuroscience module taught by Máté
Lengyel\, Henning Sprekeler\, David Barrett\, Richard Turner (Engineering
)\, and Simon Laughlin (Zoology). The main audience is 4th year (MEng) stu
dents in Engineering\, PhD students\, and others interested in learning ab
out computational neuroscience. \n\nThe course demonstrates how mathematic
al analysis and ideas from engineering-related disciplines (dynamical syst
 ems\, signal processing\, machine learning\, optimal control\, and probabi
listic inference) can be applied to gain insight into the workings of the
nervous system. Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts is assumed. \n\nT
opics covered include neural coding\, neural networks\, plasticity\, assoc
 iative memory\, efficient coding\, supervised\, unsupervised\, and reinfor
cement learning\, energy efficiency\, and optimal control.\n\nMore details

ing to attend\, subject to space constraints.\n
LOCATION:Cambridge University Engineering Department\, Lecture Room 6 (Tru
 mpington Street)
