DESCRIPTION:The morphology of galaxies is set by their angular momentum di
stribution. In turn\, filaments of the cosmic web drive the angular momen
tum acquisition of galaxies. The anisotropic environment set by the web c
an be used to revisit tidal torque theory near its saddle points. The cor
responding constrained mis-alignment between the tidal tensor and the hess
ian of the density field simply explains the point-symmetric geometry of
the angular momentum distribution within filaments. This Lagrangian theo
ry allows us to relate the transition mass corresponding to the alignment
of dark matter halos' spin to this geometry\, and to predict accordingly
its scaling with the mass of non linearity.
