DESCRIPTION:Sir Greg Winter is a pioneer of therapeutic monoclonal antibod
 ies. Working at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology\, he developed the
  technology to ‘humanize’ mouse monoclonal antibodies\, and subsequent
 ly to make fully human antibodies by phage display. One of the most succes
 sful academic entrepreneurs in Britain\, Sir Greg founded the biotech comp
 anies Cambridge Antibody Technology (1989)\, Domantis (2000) and Bicycle T
 herapeutics Limited\, which have a combined worth of over £930 million. H
 e developed the anti-TNFα antibody Humira\, the best-selling drug in the 
 world\, used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. For his achievemen
 ts\, Sir Greg has been awarded the Royal Medal\, the Louis Jeantet Prize f
 or Medicine\, and the Canada Gairdner International Award. He is a Fellow 
 of the Royal Society and Master of Trinity College.\n\nIn recent years we 
 have seen the emergence of a wave of new pharmaceuticals based on antibodi
 es. Sir Greg Winter will describe the development of the field and where i
