DESCRIPTION:Svetan Ratchev from the University of Nottingham is going to s
 hare his research and thoughts about the new manufacturing.  The presentat
 ion will report on a multidisciplinary research approach in developing the
  theoretical foundations for next generation manufacturing systems that ca
 n self-build\, adapt and evolve as a function of changing complex networks
  of product requirements\, processes and environment interactions in a pre
 dictable\, measured and responsive way. The research approach is predicate
 d on an innovative intertwining of several fundamental research challenges
  in complex collective adaptive systems including product-process-system e
 volution\, cloud technologies\, data analytics\, agent-based control\, eme
 rgence engineering\, and open manufacturing.\n\nSvetan Ratchev is a Cripps
  Professor of Production Engineering at the University of Nottingham. He i
 s the Director of the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Head of the
   Centres for Aerospace Manufacturing and Precision Manufacturing. He rese
 arches and consults in different aspects of manufacturing systems\, assemb
 ly automation\, process modelling and simulation\, manufacturing informati
 cs and precision manufacture with current research project portfolio in ex
 cess of £14 million and publication record of over 150 publications inclu
 ding over 70 journal papers. Svetan is a Fellow of IMechE\, member of the 
 IFAC technical committees TC5.1 and TC5.2 and the founding chair of the In
 ternational Precision Assembly Seminar IPAS.
