DESCRIPTION:Prof Federico Ferrini from the University of Pisa gives a talk
on gravitational waves - see the abstract below for more details.\n\nAdmi
ssion is free to CUPS members\, or £2 otherwise. As always\, wine and che
ese will be served after the talk.\n\n(Abstract:) Inspired by Einstein's d
eduction of the emission of Gravitational Waves\, physicists have develope
d brilliant ideas to reveal these elusive signals. \n\nAfter resonant bars
\, now very large ground-based interferometric detectors are at the forefr
ont of this centennial hunt. The joint LIGO & Virgo Collaborations are con
fident to conclude "La Queste Del Saint Graal" of General Relativity in a
 few years.
