DESCRIPTION:For the first 20 years of the Internet's existence\, cyberspac
 e and the 'real' world were essentially parallel universes.  From 1993 onw
 ards\, the two universes gradually merged to give us the world we now inha
 bit -- on in which the affordances of digital technology combine with thos
 e of the physical world.  No wonder we're having trouble understanding it.
