DESCRIPTION:6 years ago the founders of Apama took the event programming p
 aradigm and decided to productise it in the shape of a composite event mon
 itoring engine. But quite rapidly the challenge over the next few years th
 en became – who needs this\, who wants it\, what real-world problems doe
 s it help a customer solve\, how will it make them money and provide a qui
 ck return on investment? While we matured the core technology over time we
  learnt that in order to achieve commercial success most of our engineerin
 g effort was required on creating a focused packaged platform for specific
  verticals. Having now become the leading vendor of Algorithmic Trading so
 lutions\, Progress Apama is now focusing on providing a new suite of devel
 opment tools that make the technology easier to engage with\, and shifting
  its attention to new markets like Business Activity Monitoring.\n\nThis t
 alk will describe the abstractions we are building on top of an event prog
 ramming model in order to deliver competitive commercial platforms\, with 
 an emphasis on our recently revamped graphical development environment and
  dashboard technology.
