DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will review recent experimental results on the 
 measurement of top quark mass and their relation to open theoretical issue
 s about the physics of the Standard Model and beyond. \n\nWith the goal of
  getting a better understanding of these issues\, I will present a class o
 f new top quark mass measurement techniques. The proposed measurement dete
 rmines the top quark mass from the position of the peak of the energy dist
 ribution of the top quark decay products (for instance bottom quark jets o
 r hadrons). Preliminary results on the top quark mass determination from e
 nergy distributions computed at Next to Leading Order in QCD will be prese
 nted.
