DESCRIPTION:One of the greatest limitations in processor design today is e
nergy efficiency or rather\, the lack thereof\; we simply cannot provide e
nough power to our increasing number of transistors.\n\nHowever\, it need
not be that way. Reversible computing to the rescue! With a little help fr
om thermodynamics\, this model of computation can - in theory - provide fu
lly optimal energy usage. There is just one tiny problem: nobody has actua
lly been able to implement it practically.\n\nIn this talk\, I will explai
n the idea behind reversible computing\, dive into some of the challenges
in implementing it\, and discuss why I am not writing this from my sweet n
 ew reversible computer.
