DESCRIPTION:The anti-de Sitter spacetime (AdS) may be thought of as the Lo
rentzian analogue of hyperbolic space. The 'sphere at infinity’ in this
analogy becomes a timelike boundary. To understand AdS as a dynamical solu
tion of Einstein’s equations\, one must make a choice of boundary condit
ions on this boundary. As has been suggested by Friedrich\, it is likely t
hat the dynamical stability of AdS depends upon the choice made. In this t
alk I will discuss recent work with Holzegel\, Luk and Smulevici\, establi
shing integrated decay estimates\, and understanding the asymptotic behavi
our of linear fields in AdS for a large class of boundary conditions.
