DESCRIPTION:Electronic prescribing has been shown to reduce medication err
 ors in hospitals in the USA\, however does it 'work' in the UK?  We presen
 t an evaluation of an electronic prescribing system linked to electronical
 ly controlled access to medicines and bar code patient identity checking. 
  This work is the template for future Department of Health evaluations of 
 electronic prescribing systems.
