DESCRIPTION:Pulse-relational rhythm theory (PRT) approaches rhythm from th
e perspective of the performer.\n\nThe objective is to increase performers
’ confidence and self-assurance by clarifying the connections and distin
ctions between quantifiable\, arithmetic aspects of rhythm structures and
the relative psychophysical and sensorial effects occurring in the perform
ance of polyphonic time-aligned rhythm systems.\n\nPRT uses a generic term
inology for rhythm which is applicable to any rhythm practice regardless o
f genre\, style or specific cultural context. The language is consistent
with conventional western music theory and notation\, but functionally ind
ependent of notational terminology. The fundamental focus is on increasing
the performers’ sensitivity to pulse\, pattern and periodic subdivisio
n in the context of real-time.\n\nIn this meeting I’ll present a brief o
verview of the premises and presumptions of PRT and examples of selected a
pplied resources and practice routines used in presenting and acquiring th
e concepts. \n\nPeople attending the talk will be invited to participate i
 n the practical routines.
