DESCRIPTION:I will give a brief overview of the cyclotomic KLR algebra and
its use in studying the (graded) representation theory of the symmetric g
roup. I will then talk about dominated homomorphisms between Specht module
s and give examples to illustrate why they are so useful. If there is time
at the end\, I will briefly discuss a generalisation of the results and t
heir application to Ariki-Koike algebras. This is joint work with Matthew
 Fayers.
