DESCRIPTION:"Data science" covers a wide range of methods. These include f
inding patterns in the data through interactive visualizations\, systemati
cally assessing these patterns using data mining\, or going beyond the dat
a via simulations. In this talk\, I will provide a broad overview of these
different methods and the type of questions that they can be used for. Ex
amples will be provided through my work in health\, including research on
data science in obesity and binge drinking. No prior knowledge about the m
ethods is required as the talk aims to provide a broad introduction\, but
 advanced questions are also encouraged.
