DESCRIPTION:This talk will discuss findings from a series of projects that
have explored the use of novel digital notations to represent and manipul
ate artistic products with respect to alternative structuring principles.
The introduction will review our experiments in dance\, sculpture and visu
al arts\, each of which has explored novel ways of structuring creative pr
ocesses and conceptualisations. The main body of the discussion will then
focus on music live coding\, and particularly on Sam Aaron’s Sonic Pi sy
stem\, as a concrete context in which representations of information struc
ture are offered to the audience as an analytic accompaniment to an audio
work. This part of the talk will be illustrated by live examples of perfor
 mance with Sonic Pi.
