DESCRIPTION:The elections in Delhi in February 2015 have been hailed as a 
 defining moment in the working of Indian democracy.  the stunning victory 
 of the Aam Aadmi Party ('Common Man's Party') and the defeat of the ruling
  BJP\, surprised most observers.  The reasons and implications of this res
 ult continue to be widely debated. This panel discussion ntends to take th
 at debate forward.  Leading scholars of India's democracy will reflect on 
 the implications of the election for India's democracy.  They include: Dr 
 Richanan Bajpai\, SOAS\, Dr Mukulika Banerjee\, LSE\, Dr Shruti Kapila\, C
 ambridge\, Dr Lisa Mitchell\, Visiting Fellow\, Clare Hall and University 
 of Pennsylvania\; Dr Ornit Shani\, Visiting Fellow\, St John's College and
  Haifa University. Chair: Dr Ramnarayan Rawat\, Smuts Visiting Fellow and 
 University of Delaware.  the audience is invited to participate in the dis
 cussion\, after opening remarks by the panellists.  A wine reception will 
 follow this event to which all are invited.
