DESCRIPTION:We take a look at the interplay between contact dynamics and s
 ymplectic topology through the lens of intersection theory for punctured h
 olomorphic curves. In the natural context of 4 dimensional symplectic cobo
 rdisms with contact type boundaries\, the existence of nicely embedded cur
 ves translates into explicit dynamical properties of the latter. We revisi
 t some of the classical results of Hofer et. al. and describe how the mode
 rn machinery available today allows us to prove more.
