DESCRIPTION:We review the recent experimental progress on the use of quant
 um dots coupled to photonic-crystal waveguides [1]. We show that single ph
 otons can be channeled into the waveguide with an efficiency exceeding 98%
  [2] and discuss a how chiral photon-emission can be achieved in specifica
 lly prepared waveguides enabling construction of non-reciprocol integrated
  photonic devices [3]. Finally\, we discuss the prospects of scaling the p
 latform to larger quantum architectures for applications in quantum-inform
