DESCRIPTION:Time lapse image acquisition in both day and night of plant gr
owth was available for about £3500 at the start of my experiment in Novem
ber. My task was to determine whether it is even possible to use Raspberry
Pi's to acquire comparable data. Using the camera without an infrared fil
ter allows image acquisition in subjective night and appropriate settings
similarly allow daytime acquisition. The current system also uses most of
the pi idle time to do some basic image processing that saves time when a
batch is processed on a Mac. Preliminary data have confirm interesting beh
aviour that my lab works on - circadian clock and the way how plants fores
ee the day start and how they react to sudden longer night\, for which res
ults should be ready by the time of the talk.
