DESCRIPTION:To maintain a mobile form factor\, the screen size of mobile d
evices can only increase so much. Mobile projectors offer an alternative a
s they allow the creation of large displays from tiny devices\, which can
be made interactive through various sensing technologies. Different to oth
er research on mobile projection systems\, this talk will focus on the req
uirements and technical challenges of supporting mobile users in their eve
ryday life and in uninstrumented environments. By looking at several examp
le projects dealing with awareness\, collaboration\, and multi-modal inter
action in nomadic scenarios it will become clear that users do not only be
nefit from the larger size of the projection as often times marketed but e
ven more from the flexibility and unique affordances of the additional dis
play. The talk will close with a discussion on the future of mobile projec
ted interfaces in the light of the current trend of smart eyewear.
