DESCRIPTION:This year our conference will explore opportunities for improv
 ing the way government accesses\, assesses and makes use of expertise from
  the humanities\, and offer examples of the significant contribution these
  disciplines have made to public policy.\n\n*Conference theme*\n\nThe stud
 y of the humanities can provide context\, meaning and narrative to many of
  the cultural considerations that frame policy making. For example\, the h
 umanities offer insight into the motivations for human actions\, political
  communication\, and the politics of well-being\, which contribute to a so
 ciety based on a culture of democratic argument. This conference will both
  address the opportunities and also consider practical steps that can be t
 aken to help increase the day-to-day interaction between research in the h
 umanities and the work of government.\n\n*Panel discussion topics include*
 \n\n-The multiple dimensions of climate change\n\n-Understanding the finan
 cial future with lessons from the past\n\n-The place of the humanities in 
 dealing with conflict\n\n-The role of evidence and analysis in effective p

 for an audience of policy makers\, academics\, business leaders and early-
 career researchers who have an interest in the relationship between the hu
