DESCRIPTION:Many analyses at ATLAS deal with backgrounds due to "fake lept
 ons". These\, fundamentally\, are any objects which the detector mistakenl
 y thinks are leptons. Various methods have been used throughout Run 1 to e
 stimate the impact of these backgrounds\, and I shall present an overview 
 of the "matrix method"\,  the issues that have arisen with this method\, a
 nd present an alternative.
