DESCRIPTION:The UK\, along with the rest of the world\, is facing an unpre
cedented set of challenges: a rapid transition to a low carbon energy syst
em\, climate change\, technological advancement and demographic change to
name but a few. Each will have profound implications for our economy\, com
munities and environment. Successful responses demand that we think differ
ently about how we use land\, create places\, deliver infrastructure and g
enerate growth.\n\nWhile daunting\, these challenges place us at an immens
ely exciting point in history. By bringing together the collective human c
apital of business\, academia\, the public sector and communities we have
the opportunity to solve these problems in ways that are socially equitabl
e and environmentally sustainable whilst ensuring that the economy works f
or us.\n\nThis session will explore these issues and the opportunities for
using our built environments\, landscapes and infrastructure in different
ways and the delivery mechanisms we have at our disposal to make change h
appen.\n\nRob leads LDA Design’s Futures and Solar teams. He is passiona
te about understanding how places and societies are being shaped by the bi
g global drivers of change. He has a vision for how climate change\, decen
tralised energy and communication technologies are combining to fundamenta
lly affect the way we use land\, deliver infrastructure and generate growt
h.\n\nHe has become convinced that the next few decades will be a bumpy bu
t an incredibly exciting time for societies.\n\nRob works with public\, pr
ivate and community sectors to help them understand the spatial and organi
sational implications of change. Rob has also led some of the largest and
most challenging of renewable energy projects across the UK on behalf of m
any of the most successful developers. \n\nHe played a key role in develop
ing early Government policy for supporting renewable energy and climate ch
ange action and is currently working with clients who are pushing the boun
daries of what is possible in a subsidy free transition to a low carbon ec
 onomy.\n\n
