  inaugural lecture at the Cambridge Judge Business School.\n\nIN SEARCH OF
  'GOOD' ENERGY POLICY THE SOCIAL LIMITS TO TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS TO ENER
 GY AND CLIMATE PROBLEMS\n\nEnergy policy in every country aims to deliver 
 secure\, affordable and clean energy to power the economy. However simulta
 neously achieving these three goals is difficult and contentious and there
  are wide variations between countries in their approach to policy.\n\nMic
 hael will explore some of the key social aspects to the promotion of ‘go
 od’ energy policy. These include the use of evidence and prediction\; pu
 blic trust\, understanding\, attitudes and beliefs\; institutional design 
 and collective action\; the varying concepts of what is ‘good’ and ‘
 just’\; the role of the state vs private actors\; vested interests and l
 egacy investments\; and the need for new business models.\n
