DESCRIPTION:The Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) color center is a point defect in di
amond which behaves as an artificial atom hosted in a solid-state matrix.
Due to its electron spin properties which can be read-out and manipulated
as an elementary quantum system even at room temperature\, the NV center h
as found a wide panel of applications as a qubit for quantum information a
nd as a magnetic field sensor. However these applications require to contr
ol the properties of the NV centers and their localization. I will describ
e methods aimed to taylor the properties of NV centers by combining techni
ques for the implantation of nitrogen atoms then converted into NV centers
and for the plasma-assisted (CVD) synthesis of diamond
