DESCRIPTION:SHIM (Screening Histories Information Manager) is a national s
ystem for determining the correct screening status for every diagnosis of
breast cancer in women within the screening age range. The system collects
data from the Cancer Registration Service and from Breast Cancer Screenin
g Units then undertakes an automated analysis of the screening histories.
Staff in Quality Assurance Reference Centres can review the data and\, if
necessary\, override the allocated screening status before returning the r
esults to the Registration Service.\n\nToday’s seminar will look at how
the system was built\, from a technical rather than clinical point of view
\, and may include discussion of\n-	Information governance and security\n-
 	Data integrity\n-	System configuration\n-	Choices of hardware\, software\
, frameworks and tools\n-	Timing and speed of the various processes\n-	Fut
 ure development\n
