DESCRIPTION:Gauge/gravity duality can be used to study the transport prope
 rties of strongly interacting systems with no quasiparticles. I will discu
 ss a holographic toy model of a state like this\, in which momentum is not
  conserved and thus the transport of heat and charge is non-trivial. I wil
 l explain the physical processes underlying the conductivities of this sys
 tem\, and how these can be understood in terms of simple\, non-holographic
  effective theories.
